TALENT MANAGEMENT CONSULTING

My consulting work is in the same realm as my coaching: work relationships and the people management aspects of leadership.

Unlike coaching, this includes reviewing and advising clients about systems and strategies in the people programs. For this, I draw from 25+ years of experience as a human resources leader. There is no such thing as a perfect system; however, there are ways to make systems complement your leadership style, culture, and mission.

✔︎ Learning & Development

360 degree reviews for CEOs and executive leadership can unlock the potential in your senior team and provide insight into blind spots and systemic mismatches to an inclusive productive work culture.

I’m a firm believer in the 70-20-10 rule which suggests that 70% of learning on the job comes from actual work experience, 20% from interactions with others and 10% from formal training. That’s where coaching come ins.  Stronger leaders will improve the quality of the on the job training.

✔︎ Performance Management

It’s not about the form or the on-line system!  The best system in the world will not help a leader who waits until review time think.  Many organizations are adopting coaching cultures which will greatly help take pressure off the dreaded performance evaluation.  Do your leaders have the skills to deliver feedback and coach their team?  Does your team have the skills needed to effectively request and receive the kind of feedback they need?

✔︎ Staffing and Succession Planning

Does your staff today match where you’re going as an organization?  If someone leaves, who will pick up their duties?  Are your learning and development programs and hiring decisions aligned with your succession plans?  I can help you with an integrated plan.

✔︎ Recruiting

Recruiting is possibly the most important component of talent management.  When recruiting, are you relying on job postings and referrals?  This can often work, but you may be missing out on the best candidates who aren’t actively looking.  Your pool of potential candidates just grew by about ten-fold.

✔︎ On-boarding

On-boarding is often a fancy name for orientation.  If approached holistically,
on-boarding is as much about the current staff preparing for the new people coming
in. Are you setting them up to succeed and contribute?
